International trade and commerce are vital to the success of our nation as a global economy. To be this vulnerable to disruptions, something as ludicrous as a pirate attack is inexcusable. The U.S. is not the first country to encounter such a problem, so whether it is the U.N., NATO, or another international coalition, someone must step in and work with local governments to develop a permanent solution to this problem. Cargo ships should not have to travel in fear of attack by rag-tag groups of African militants. Thankfully though, we have people like the Navy Seals who are able to protect our life and liberty, even abroad.

Not only is trade so important in today economy this is mostly aid going to Africa to help countries including Somalia! I predict that soon some more stuff is going to go down i say that the ships should start caring like 12 or so m4 carbines and 12 gauges to defend them selves against the pirate and just kill them at 1st contact that will take care of part of the problem i hate to sound so cold hearted but remember these people are considered terrorist!-jacob goss

i think that trade plays a big role in the economy. that is ridicolous that these pirates would so such a thing. i think in order to stop this there should be more portection on the boat. also the navl seals could help out this problem. i dont think that cargo ships should have to deal with this stuff the people on it are just trying to do there jobs and these pirates are ruining everything.
