Debate Over Healthcare Reform is Heating Up

One of Obama's biggest campaign promises was to reform American healthcare, and make health insurance available to the some 47 million Americans that are not currently insured.

However, he is the President, not the king, and this requires a major piece of legislation from Congress. Competing ideas and bills will be getting a lot of attention in upcoming weeks. Here are a few news articles dealing with the topic:

I think that people expect way to much way to fast. People need to realize that there is more to reforming Americas health care policys then think about. I don't fully expect Obama to follow through with everything that he has promised but I believe its to early to tell what he will accomplish in this short amount of time. This doesnt really relate to the constitution.

I do believe that we as Americans should have more health benefits like other countries. I think though that right now is not the time to be dealing with health care problems. I know that sounds pessimistic, but our economy is falling apart and we need to be more focused on that, because if we focus on health care we may go even deeper in this whole that the economy is stuck in.

I think that what Obama is trying to do is very responsible and helpful, but with our economy today, it will be incredibly difficult for that many americans to have health insurance. This would be wonderful if accomplished, but Obama is making our people expect too much and it may be setting us up for a dissappointment. This may relate to the 1st amendment to freedom of life because everyone should deserve to have health insurance, especially in a fatal emergency. If someone cannot be helped just because they do not have health insurance, that seems unconstitutional.

i think that everyone should be able to have health insurance even in this terrible economic time. also i think the economy won't be fixed right away its going to take some time. what obama is doing with health insurance is good but with the economy like this it is going to be hard for people to have health insurance. i think this could relate to the first amendment which deals with freedom of life. i think this because health insurance deals with life.

Obama's a nice guy with promising helathcare but im not trying to be a bad guy but i honestly dont think that would be a good idea. There might be sick people in the world with no healthcare but our economy is pretty low now a days and this will just add more to the fire. Yeah healthcare is a great idea but not quite yet, i say let things settle now before doing BIG changes.

I'd have to agree with Junior here but the problem is Obama got elected on the whole idea that he would basically reconstruct the government to work for the people.
If he doesn't show signs that he's attempting to pull through with what he promised during election day then he might get labeled as just another one of our lying presidents instead of the chosen leader for a new chapter in our history.
I'd rather see Obama fix our economy than afterward maybe as the economy is at a climb again go along with his ideas for health care.
