Fatal Shooting at Holocaust Museum

This is what hate, intolerance, and being unable to learn from others can lead to.

A lot of people are shocked tonight by the news that this 88-year old Neo-Nazi decided to bring his rifle to the National Holocaust Museum and open fire on innocent bystanders.

Last week an abortion doctor was shot.

Wake up America! There is still too much intolerance and too many guns in our society. The more I read about this story, the more disturbing it is. Below are a few links.

I disagree that there are too many guns in America right now and even the 2nd Amendment agrees with me as the right to bear arms. If we as a government did make guns illegal than all the good honest Americans would get rid of their guns, while all the terrorists would hide thier guns and continue to collect guns for attacks. Then they would have the ability to go into almost any environment with their guns and they could shoot and rob and steal from innocent hard working Americans who will not be able to defend themselves because knowone but the terrorists will have guns. It will be like when the Government outlawed alcohol a while back. At first most people followed the law. But then people such as gangsters and mafia started producing and spreading alcohol. The same thing would happen with guns where some people will stop using guns while others will realize that nobody else has guns therefore if they go to, say a house with a gun the dad won't have a gun to protect himself or his family. If a law is made banning guns the terrorists will have guns while the American people do not.

I dont think guns are totally bad for our society, i think that it should be more of a qualification responsibility. Thus meaning background checks on citizens that purchase weapons. If a plan like this were to be lawed then i think that there wouldn't be problems like this in america. To me its more of the persons fault than the gun.

I dont think that the problem is just guns, i think it is the people who own them. Some crazy people out there have guns and they have ways to get them.I think that if it was only people who could control themselves with guns then we wouldnt have a problem. its when idiots like this guy go around and commit hate crimes with them or shoot people for no reason. Guns are givin a bad reputation by the people who mess up, but really i think that guns are a great form of protection, i wouldnt own one, their too scary, but they can definitly keep you safe.

I think guns are appropriate for our community because they are the most powerful weapon for self-defense, which is necessary. I believe that we need to make it harder for people to get guns. For example, we should make it a requirment to make people take a class or orientation to recieve a gun, legally. Also, we need to check backgrounds of people and if they have any recent charges related to extreme or moderate violence, then they shouldn't have a chance to recieve a gun.

I agree with James. The law abiding citizens would rid their homes of guns while the drug dealers and gangsters would keep theirs. By outlawing a gun, you are making the gun more powerful because there would be less people with them. The second ammendemnt states the right to bear arms.

I think there is a problem with guns in America. Look at some places that have banned pistols like Australia and then take a look at the stats. Who has more problems with violence and guns? We do. I think it is sad that things like this have to happen when they are not necessary if everyone decided that banning pistols would be the right thing i bet that within a few years we would have less crime and deaths.

With the 2nd amendment giving us a right to bear arms, I consider this event just unfortunate and the owner is just not qualified to own a gun. Instead of restriciting owning of firearms, I think that there should be more qualifications that people need to meet to own a firearm so they do not fall into the wrong hands. It is good that there are harsh consequences for those who abuse this right and who own them illegally so all we can do now is hope that whoever sells firearms is giving them to the right people and that certain people do not get their hands on them.

I think banning guns from people is a violation of their rights...but at the same time it's for the safety of others. If people don't want their rights to be taken away then they shouldn't violate it and use the right given to them wisely. In some states they banned it, even though it's taking the rights away from people, their statistics rate shows that it dropped, where as, states that hasn't banned guns, the statistics are higher than ever. When was the last time we haven't heard of a shooting any more? It seems to be mention in every news each day that someone is kiiled because of a gun shooting. We should consider this and try to do what's safe for people to live with out being afraid of their life each day.

I think that guns should be banned. I understand that it's a violation of our rights. But, is it ok to have a gun and abuse it? I think it's ok for people to have a small handgun to keep for protection. But, i think it's unneccessary for people to need 12gauge shotguns for protection. It also might help to make it harder to get/own a gun. This would hopefully eliminate some of the problems.

I do not think we should ban guns because i think criminals would just keep theres and hurt people. i do believe that our government should make it harder to obtain a gun because the qualifications seem to easy. i think it seems to easy to get a gun illegaly too. also they shouldn't be allowed to ban guns because it would go against the second amendment and it says you have the right to bear arms. i think it is good that there is punishments for owning an illegal gun.

Not only would that be ineffective but it would go against our second amendment rights.
The thing that is clear to everyone is that banning guns wouldn't help the situation but hinder it.
Criminals have never followed rules and regulations before so what would creating a new one fix?
Exactly, and the fact that an idiot has the nerve to go on and do something that asinine is just stomach-lurching. Its a museum for Pete's sake what would does the old crackpot have to prove? That there's still hate in the world?
That much is obvious and I hope this opens peoples eyes to how much the world has grown since the last 80-90 yrs.
Maybe in the near future people can grow out of killing each other and move on to something much harder, helping each other.
