It is obvious that China is censoring free speech because the Chinese government has completly covered up embarassing events in its past like the events that took place in June of 1989, when they massacred many students who wanted and believed in democracy. There is no doubt that they are censory free speech, which is a violation of the 1st ammendment.

Well to me i think that this software program is only being added to have a high security system so that china's gov't can obviously intrude on anything or anyone with the software, and making it manditory would result in a life that has no personal space. Pornography should be blocked according to the users choice. This is just another foreign country using an excuse to have more power in their system.

I think that this is wrong and that people in every country should be able to look and read what they want on the internet. This is easy for me to say being an American and having those rights already, but I know that someone is going to be able to get around this software just like it always does. Then people are going to take this soft ware off these computers and start selling the new computers without the software illegally. This causes a whole different problem.
I think that the chinese government is very strict. in this country that would violate the first amendment because they are censoring free speech. People in China should be able to look at what they want. the software may be illegal but they wouldn't have needed it if they could look at what they wanted to in the first place.

The Chinese governement has never been known to take kindly to negative criticism so to see that they're taking another attempt
to block out any free speech and mask it as censorship for pornography is laughable.
The Chinese government knows that no one believes that and doesn't care, they want a tight grip around their people and the way their system works to remain the same without any "rebels" or "free thinkers" to radicalize what has been the same for many years.
I think the governement is afraid of change and what that might mean to the amount of power they have.
They think that if the people start thinking for themselves and criticizing what they don't like then the next step would be to reduce the governments power, ending up like the western countries they aren't to fond of.

I think it's common knowledge that china is strict on people bashing or being opinionated of thier country. If im not mistaken the chinese arrested and imprisoned one college man a few years back for posting an opinonated article critisizing the government so it comes as no suprise to me that china would do something like this. As much as people dislike the fact that this action by china would violate freedom of speech and expression it has to be remembered that it's CHINA!! china is nothing like america, what is valued here is not always valued everywhere else so in reality it's none of our personal concern.
