New Mileage Requirements for American Cars

Obama is set to announce new environmental standards for American automobiles. Now, unlike the post below about where I disagree with some of Obama's recent decisions, this is something I am happy to see. What is your reaction and what principles of our constitutional system are involved?

I am also excited to hear this but i know there are going to be some people who get upset that the president they might not have voted for telling them what kind of standards to put their cars to. However, Obama and the government has the right to do this. Congress by 2/3 votes has the power to pass any law or regulation and also has the authority to regulate inner-state commerce which cars have the ability to travel with in the country. he also has the poewr to do this in concern for the common good of the people of the united states and pollution is going to help no one!

I think that this is a great idea/step towards the right direction. The only problem i have with it is that its 7 years away, which isn't that long but i feel that we should be able to get it done faster than 7 years. But Obama is doing what he said he would, which is also a postive. This is a great thing happening.

I think this is a great way for Obama to take charge and begin showing the Americas what his "change" is going to bring around. This is a change that will effect everyone. To bad our economy is in a slump right now, not sure people will be buying new cars anytime soon. But hopefully this change will inspire car manufacturers to begin thinking of new ideas for the future cars.

I think that putting new mileage requirements on American cars is a great idea that will not only help slow down global warming but will also help Americans save money. However, I predict that along with the new requirements will come some very angry people. It’s not going to be easy to change a suv that gets from 10-20 mpg to 39 mpg but I feel that the 7 years time Obama has given them to make these changes is very fair.
