Civil Rights hero John Lewis is a lot older now, but still engages in some civil disobedience to draw attention to a worthy cause - in this case, the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan.

These congressmen are doing the right thing by protesting and surely but slowly this has made an impact and we will soon find the darfur genocide will end before we know it. As long as more people support the cause, the deaths of 500,000 will plummet. Im not gonna lie these congressmen are pretty B.A for this.

John Lewis was just using civil disobedience to make his point. But because he was breaking the law he needed to be arrested for his actions. Hopfully this helped to make an impact on the people.

Well I think that John Lewis has the right of Civil Disobidience so he could hopfuly make an impact on the people of Africa and send a message to the goverment. This genocide that is still going on in Africa is wrong and I think that we need more peole like Lewis who are willing to get that message to the goverment and to the world. Even if someone gets arrested for it, it is still hopfuly getting the point across. These people need the freedom that they deserve and I respect Lewis for what he did.

John Lewis and the other congressman should not have been arrested because they have their own rights, the freedom of expression. These congressmen are just trying to tell our government and perhaps the world that the genocide in Darfur must end and as the article said, there are almost 500,000 deaths in Darfur, and that is a lot of people both young and old. So even though what they did was “wrong” the people all over the world should listen to them. Helping others is one of many ways for everyone to be together and everyone should really get over with this being “different” from others.

John Lewis Knew that he would be arrested for his actions and he knew that the punishment would be something along the lines of a 100 dollar fine. He also knew that this would draw attention from the media and help his cause. I agree with him that the things happening in Darfur must be stopped because they are disgusting crimes against humanity. I dont think people realize how bad it is because it isnt in there every day life.

i think what john lewis did was a good thing because he expressed what he believed in even though he knew there was going to be a punishment. also since he did something that was wrong to get his point across he got even more attention from the media. John Lewis used civil disobedience just to get his point across. i think the things that are happening in Darfur need to stop. i think what John Lewis did was very brave.
