Powerful Senator Faces Criminal Charges

Ted Stevens has been a controversial U.S. Senator to many, but a powerful one that has steered billions of dollars to his home state of Alaska. A few years ago, his tirade over maintaining the funding for the infamous "bridge to nowhere" despite the needs of hurricane ravaged New Orleans created an embarassment for himself and the Senate as an institution.
