Should Bush and Cheney Be Impeached?

For a long time, I'd been very supportive of this idea. I do think that terrible decisions, and more significantly, deceptive and selective use of intelligence data were used to get our nation into a seeminly endless war in Iraq.

But now that Bush can no longer count on a Republican majority to support his efforts, he is already less powerful. Also, he can't say that the majority of the people support his war policy. Without any sort of impeachment, he is already a president with significantly less power.

So is impeachment a wise thing to do in this case? Among those who don't is Seattle Times editorial writer Danny Westneat. Read his column here.

What do you think?

at this point in bush's presidency i think that it is too late to have him impeached. in the past, i did think that our country would have been better off if he had been impeached like when he was handeling the war in iraq. though now that there is a democratic majority in the senate and the house of representatives bush is going to have a much harder time getting the laws he wants past. and with the new election so close, i think we should just wait the next year out, and change the way that things are going when we elect the new president into office.

i agree with kim on this one, it is a little late in his term to be impeached. although i disagree with almost every decision bush has made in the past 3 years. the war in iraq seems neverending, and we've been there for a million different reasons that seem to change daily. first there were WOMD, then we wanted to get saddam, and now we want to create a democracy. sure maybe we should help them create this democracy, but do we REALLY need a troop surge? it just seems like we are putting more lives in danger. so i don't agree with bush's antics, but i think it is time for a change.. but i think that change can wait until the next election.

i have to agree with the two girls above... Bush's term is almost over and impeaching him at this point would probably do him no good. however i wish he would have been impeached when he was'nt so far into his presidency because i am completly against the war in iraq and all of his decisions. at this point though i think we should just let him contine to try and pick up the pieces until the next elction...America will survive...

hey mr. coraggio it's nick,

i beleive that Bush should not be impeached as well, he has onlya year and a half left in office anyways, so i say lets just tough it out, who knows Bush may just be able to sort out the mess he had gotten us into, or at least get us out of iraq before the new guy comes in so s/he doesn't have to big of a mess to handle, but even if he doesn't succeed and we loose the war we honestly had it coming anyways, i think we are way to cocky for our own good. and maybe we just may start living to the standards that our founders hoped we would, rather than what we are living now.
